Fans of the STARZ crime drama, Power, have just been hit with a major blow. According to the show’s co-executive producer, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the upcoming sixth season will be its last.
50 Cent took to Instagram to break the news, also revealing that season 6 will be 15 episodes long.
The season has already been dubbed “The Final Betrayal” and for fans that fear that they will miss Ghost, Tasha, Tommy and the crew, 50 Cent and fellow executive producer Courtney Kemp promise that this won’t be the last you see of them.
“We will follow some of your beloved Power characters beyond the scope of the initial series,” proclaimed Kemp. “But we will play with your expectations of which characters, where, and the master timeline of it all, creating a Power universe as unpredictable as the original.”
“Season 6 brings us to the end of what we know is just the first chapter of the Power story,” Starz president of programming Carmi Zlotnik said on Thursday. “However, as one chapter comes to an end, another will begin. Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent have created a world rich with complex and dynamic characters and there are a number of stories we plan to tell as we continue to explore and expand the Power universe.”
“I have 4 spin off shows coming so don’t trip,” says 50 Cent, who recently announced that he and Lala Vasquez, who plays Keisha on the STARZ series, will be co-producing a new series for STARZ entitled Intercepted.
Season 6 of Power premieres on August 25th.
